What is the duration of a process of patent in Ecuador?

The normal process of a patent in Ecuador can take three to four years for invention patents and between 2 and 3 years for utility model patent.

This period of time may increase:

• 6 months if there are requirements
• Between 12 and 18 months if there are opposition 
• 6 months in case of notification of impediments of patentability
